Although it is an exciting experience, getting married can be a great undertaking for many couples. Some of the elements involved in wedding planning deserve more attention than others. Selecting the perfect bridal attire, bridesmaids gifts, decorations, and reception menu are four of the most important tasks for which a bride is responsible. For the purpose of this article, we will focus on the reception menu.
Because most guests look forward to eating a wonderful meal after the wedding ceremony, it is important to take careful consideration when selecting the reception menu. While choosing an enjoyable meal to suit all of your guests is ideal, there are three important factors that must be considered when making your final decision. These include: budget, theme, and the guest list.
Budget
On average, the reception dinner is the most expensive portion of a wedding. As such, along with setting a budget for bridal attire, bridesmaids gifts, and decorations, it is imperative that the bride and groom determine a financial plan for the reception menu as well. Keep in mind that you should not go into debt as a result of your wedding.
Theme
Many brides choose a theme for their wedding. If you are one of those brides that have chosen to use a theme for your special day, then you will more than likely choose bridal attire, purchase bridesmaids gifts, and select a menu that coincide with your wedding theme. In the case of a beach themed wedding you might consider wearing a beach-inspired wedding dress, giving your bridesmaids a personalized tote bag filled with beach related items, and serving seafood at the reception.
Guests
It is important to establish a guest list during the beginning phase of planning your wedding. Knowing approximately how many guests you plan to invite will help you set your budget and influence what type of reception you plan to host. If you select your menu beforehand, then you will run the risk of adjusting your budget or you might have to change the menu all together.
Planning ahead is the key to a successful wedding. If you give yourself enough time to plan, then you and your fiancé will have the opportunity to make adjustments if necessary. Remember, when selecting your reception menu, aside from choosing a delicious smorgasbord, you should be sure to consider your budget, wedding theme, and the number of guests that you plan to invite.
